Pytanie: best martial art for striking?

( Wstecz )

Answer #1:

First of all there are many forms of karate and you should be more specific. There is Kyokushin Karate, Shotokan, Goju Ryu, and many more. In my opinion and I've studied five martial arts in my life this is my list.

1. Muay Thai- If you can get a good teacher then go here but watered down American Muay Thai is garbage. You need to make sure your instructor is qualified. I did three months in Thailand to learn mine. Make sure you find an instructor that has learned Muay Thai from an actual Thai instructor. Muay Thai taught by an American instructor who was taught a watered down version like I see so often in Muay Thai gyms here in the U.S. won't get you farther than American Kickboxing. If you are wondering why I would choose this over a martial art simply it is because of the brutality and realism in combat. If you look on youtube for Muay Thai vs things like TKD, Muay Thai won brutally.

2. Tae Kwon Do- All martial arts are different and there are too many reasons and styles to list. But Tae Kwon Do was literally invented as a purely striking martial art. This is one of the reasons I didn't take this for very long. I didn't like the 90% offense 10% defense breakdown of TKD. The name literally means in Korean "strike or break with foot". It is the best martial art to take if you are looking for striking only.

3. Kyokushin Karate- It was developed for full contact and stand up. Best style of karate in my opinion.

4. American Kickboxing- Better than boxing itself because it utilizes your feet.

5. Wing Chun- If you are wondering why I chose this last it's because it is a close combat martial art. It is good for striking but it relies on your opponent being close to you. If you fight someone who knows Kyokushin or TKD you are done.

I left out Capoeira and Savate because I personally don't like them at all and feel confident in my ability to easily defeat a practioner of either one. Capoeira I don't like because of the dancing around and constant movement. If you are not amazingly well conditioned you will get tired very quickly and your opponent will not. And Savate I don't like because it has too many rules and its scoring system is garbage. For example you get no points in knocking your opponent down. Also in a street fight, there are no rules. I never have and never will like Savate. It's American Kickboxing with more rules and shoes on. Those are my top five and the reasons behind it.
