Pytanie: Is Capoeira a useless martial art?

( Wstecz )

Answer #1:

Never heard of it, but it doesn't sound particularly threatening. 'I know Capoeira' is definetly less intimidating than 'I know Muay Thai'.

Answer #2:

I think so

Answer #3:

I always wanted to learn that martial art form the Jets and the Sharks did.

Answer #4:

Even experts advise you to run away from confrontation, if you can.
All martial arts in today's world are useless, as we no longer live by the sword. The society and the Government's police set-up protect us.
Avoid being in situations where you are likely to be harmed.

Answer #5:

And i'm sure stick/knife fighting just looks like two people circling one another OR wrestling looks like two guys humping one another on the ground, does that mean its ineffective? no...just means you don't have a clue what you're watching.

Whilst Capoeira is generally hard to find as a martial art (its popular as ''get fit'' classes in colleges etc) its a good style, i know very little of it but those that know world-martial arts comment on how it has odd timing & angles of attack that confuse a person used to a certain way of attacking.
There is a video of some guy in a MMA event using it & he basically cracks the guy with his heel & knocks him clean out, the guy didn't know what yer man was doing spinning high & low.
Basically its like any martial art if you ahve a good instructor who teaches you how to use it & you are able to learn it its effective

Answer #6:

holistic approach:no martial art is useless...
provide what you're trained for, an art shall shine to those who practice and master it, and not make fun out of it.

Answer #7:

No man, capoeira isn't a useless art. It strengthens the body and mind in many ways and is a beautiful form of expression, creating fellowship and understanding amongst a group of people. For self-defence it's not wholly practical, but it still shouldn't be described as useless. It sounds like you've seen the video I'm going to recommend, but if a world class MMA fighter can use it, I'd say it's got at least a little worth as a fighting art.
