Capoeira - Capoeira Questions

Pytanie: I want to prepare for Capoeira classes. What kind of exercise should I do?

Answer #1:

this is an excellent set of stretches for martial arts. Capoeira uses the whole body so these should apply very nicely.

Answer #2:

Squats. Lots and lots of squats. In the beginning they are probably going have you hold that squat pose for minutes at a time.

Time yourself now and see how long you can hold it with your thighs parallel to the floor. Try to prevent your knees from going in front of your feet. If you have trouble doing this then you need too lean your upper body forward for balance. Keep track of your times and work your way up.

The old school mestres can hold that pose forever. Except they will hold the same pose but up on their tip toes and tell you their life story. Try that out one time and see how hard it is.

If you are like I was and have trouble with that, then you need to work on stretching your hamstrings. Stretching of all kinds will help you and also any cardio you can do will help. It takes a lot of cardio to keep up in Capoeira.

Capoeira is a feeling. Let the music move you and have fun.

Good luck,
Peace

Answer #3:

stretch a lot and get ready to do a lot of dancing
